"Saving My Voice" Technique

So you have many auditions,  more shows,  longer recording sessions,  and  rehearsals.

You are concerned about losing your voice.

I see many singers using the "Saving My Voice Technique".

The "Saving My Voice technique" is choosing not to warm -up because you feel that warming up will Use up your voice.  This is not a good practice for singers.   Just like athletes, a thorough warm-up is neccessary for optimal performance as well as to avoid injury.  ex: Straining.

To warm-up effectively select exercises that target the vocal techniques  you will be using.

Sample Warm-up for Singer performing up-beat dance songs:

  • 5 min.   Breathing Exercises (Basic/standard).

  • 5 min.   Scales/Scale Variations (Basic/Standard).

  • 5 min.   Flexibility Exercises (For control with faster melodies, Riffing etc...).

  • 5 min.   Range and Belting Exercises (especially important to build up to your range).

Remember,  your warm-ups should vary according to what you will be singing.

With this efficient approach to warming-up,  not only will you be more prepared, but you will have more Stamina, and will deliver with greater confidence.

Warm-up to a Healthy Voice.
